Observations on a Wednesday morning
Aug. 26th, 2009 09:57 am1. Ted Kennedy is at least as popular among my facebook friends as anyone else who has did this year. I have not done a count yet, but it's right up there.
2. NSTIW, working a job fair last night.
The advice I wanted to give was "Wearing a whit t-shirt that says, "If you think *I'm* a bitch, you oughta see my mother," is not good sartorial choice.
Oddly enough, later I saw an older woman wearing a matching shirt that said, "If you think *I'm* a bitch, you should see my daughter."
3. If you are anywhere in the New York Capitol region, the Washington County Fair, one of the best of the county fairs, runs through the weekend in Easton, on Route 29, about 10 miles east of Saratoga Springs. Maple cotton candy!
4. I have not written much about my truck -- which has developed the nickname Prince Hall for some reason -- but it spent another week or two with Frank The Mechanic. Leaking gas is bad. Turned out her needed to replace the fuel pump on top of the gas tank, and the gas tank. This may be the last major service for Hal.
5. Have any of my Boston-area friends eaten at Hungry Mother in Kendall Square? Bob Appetit listed it as one of America's top 10 new restaurants.
6. Speaking of work, I think it's appropriate that I am reminded every day that there are people who need to use food pantries, seek extra help to get their utilities turned back on or need a way to get to the doctor. I know there are issues in my life, but there are levels of issues, too.
7. For all my OCD and semi-OCD friends. I walked out of the house this morning, couldn't remember if I had turned off the coffee pot, went back upstairs, and it was still on! Now, it would have shut off, and it would not have burned down the house, but still, I was happy.
