Note from Yeliz about the EK List

I was going to post this, but marysdressbeat me to it.

So I am repeating her post. I agree with her idea that together, we can get it going and make it what it should me.

elizabear posted this on the EK List (text gratefully stolen from msmemory ).  Let's get the word out and see if we can get some of the departed members to come back and encourage the members still there to pay attention to what's happening so it becomes a valuable resource with a less contentious reputation.

I created the sca-east mailing list about 15 years ago to be a place where people from all over the kingdom could easily communicate with each other and share information.

Unfortunately, in the last few years, the list has all too often become a toxic and unpleasant place. Many people have left the list because of this atmosphere, while others have been warned away from joining at all. I'm afraid that's my fault, for not being a more aggressive moderator.

It must change, and it will.

Effective Friday morning, 11/13, the sca-east list will be off the air for three days.

On Monday morning, 11/16, the list will return under new conduct rules. They will be clearly outlined, and anyone who does not wish to follow them is welcome to unsubscribe or have it done for them. In general, unpleasant behaviors which were tolerated in the past will no longer be acceptable. Everyone who exhibits common courtesy and maintains a reasonable tone should find this a more congenial place. There are specific behaviors which I will call out, but the list will not be exhaustive, nor should it be.

If you wish to comment on this, please reply to me privately. I will probably not respond, but I will read all messages.

I would also like to see them break up Undecided/Won't Say/Unavailable.
