1. Making Portagee Stew Beef is a form of therapy for me.

I made diner meatloaf and mashed sweet potatoes for dinner.

Then I indulged in the almost-automatic process of sauteeing onions and garlic, cutting the stew beef small, flouring it and browning it, adding the Hot Italian Sausage, then the water, the can of tomato paste, the can of tomato sauce and the potatoes and carrots. (I just realized I forget the bay leaf. I am a heretic, but I do not know where they are).

This is soothing and calming and reminds me of my sainted Portuguese grandmother, who quite simply was the most kind person I have ever met.

2. Maybe we oughta change the name of the whole she-bang to the Society for Courteous Anachronism. Then our middle name would be useful.

3. I will *not* post the following to the EK List:

*Liam rips a big, loud wet one*

"I think the cut-off date should be 1492"

"The SCA should allow a lot more religion."

"Can we talk about same-sex consorts now?"

"Hey, Richard. I don't think you're authentic enough."

It's so quiet there, you would think we were "hunting wabbits."

4. If you follow the NFL, maybe you will understand when I say, "Ease up and have some fun, folks."

I am completely behind Bill Belichick having the brass ones to do something out of the ordinary.

And I applaud the Browns for having the bold audacity to throw what we know as "Hook Pass Special" on the last play of the game.

What is depressing is that Dick Jauron *doesn't* have a job and Charlie Weis does.

5. I am heartened to see people have not forgotten:

New York Times

German prosecutors have indicted a 90-year-old man on 58 counts of murder over his suspected role in the March 1945 massacre of a group of Jewish laborers near the Austrian village of Deutsch Schützen.

An Austrian student discovered the 90-year-old’s name while researching the killings.

The court has identified the suspect only as “a retiree from Duisburg,” but The Associated Press reported that news reports had identified him as Adolf Storms, a former member of the 5th SS Panzer Division.

“On March 29, 1945, the accused and his accomplices brought at least 57 Jewish forced laborers in several groups to a nearby forest area, where they had to give up their valuables and kneel by a grave,” the court said in a statement. “The accused and other SS members then cruelly shot the Jewish forced-laborers from behind.”

6. Man, I *am* all over the place tonight. Anyone else read "Fantasy Freaks and Gaming Geeks" yet?
