I am going to stop trying to post anything of length from work, just using the LJ interface. I wrote this in the early afternoon.
1. The first item was gonna be a smack at Pat Robertson.
Instead, I give you this, posted by one of my LJ friend:
""ShopRite ShopRite has donated $250,000 to Red Cross relief efforts in Haiti. http://bit.ly/4yPam7 We encourage anyone who would like to help to make an unrestricted donation to the International Response Fund at www.redcross.org or 1-800-REDCROSS (1-800-733-2767)."
WHOO.
Thanks, Dad!
2. From a friend of a friend.
Pat Robertson meets God.
An excerpt:
Pat: What? You mean you want me to take Saint Peter's place, deciding who comes in and who stays out? I can do that! I have a very clear understanding on the sort of riff raff we shouldn't let in! You can trust me not to let the sinners in, Lord!
God: WELL, NO, APPARENTLY YOU DON'T. BECAUSE *YOU* ARE THE SORT OF RIFF RAFF WE DON'T LET IN. REMEMBER ALL THAT HATE, ALL THAT JUDGMENT YOU PREACHED?
Pat: Absolutely! It came straight from the Bible.
God: YOU KEEP USING THAT BOOK. I DO NOT THINK IT MEANS WHAT YOU THINK IT MEANS.
Pat: You quote "The Princess Bride"?
God: I WROTE "THE PRINCESS BRIDE".
Pat: I think I'm starting to understand.
3. Thanks to
wldrose, I may never look at a scrunchy the same way again.
(My kids wore scrunchies)
Scrunchie Tip 2007
If you've kept up with your Cosmo sex tips, you may remember reading that a scrunchie can be used on a man's member to help him maintain an erection. Now we're upping the ante and taking that technique in a new direction. Start by stacking six scrunchies on top of each other over his package. "Then remove them one by one using your lips and tongue," says St. Claire. "As each piece is removed, it releases a little bit of pressure in his penis, which will make his orgasm more intense when it happens. Plus, the movement of the fabric will feel wild on his skin."
4. It’s from the BBC (with video), but it made me think of Calontiri at Pennsic:
Police officers filmed using riot shields to sledge down a snowy hill while on duty have been reprimanded.
The footage of a group of officers on Boars Hill, Oxford, was taken by Rick Latham on Tuesday. He posted it on the file-sharing website YouTube.
Mr Latham said they were only there for a few minutes and praised the officers for having a "sense of humour".
Supt. Andrew Murray said those involved have been spoken to and advised that their actions were a "bad idea".
But the local policing area commander added that the snow had "a habit of bringing out the child in all of us".
5. CNN has a fascinating interview with Isaac Yeffet, who was once head of security for El Al.
One excerpt on how Israel handles airport security.
We must look at the qualifications of the candidate for security jobs. He must be educated. He must speak two languages. He must be trained for a long time, in classrooms. He must receive on-the-job training with a supervisor for weeks to make sure that the guy understands how to approach a passenger, how to convince him to cooperate with him, because the passenger is taking the flight and we are on the ground. The passengers have to understand that the security is doing it for their benefit.
We are constantly in touch with the Israeli intelligence to find out if there are any suspicious passengers among hundreds of passengers coming to take the flight -- by getting the list of passengers for each flight and comparing it with the suspicious list that we have. If one of the passengers is on the list, then we are waiting for him, he will not surprise us.
6. Dreda taught us a new Bible quote.
John 11:35:
“Jesus wept.”
7. After spending much of yesterday in discussion of sexual assault laws and ideas, I lick on the Albany Times Union and find this:
NORTHAMPTON, NY -- In a case that one prosecutor called devastating to its victims, a 10-year-old Fulton County boy has been arrested after State Police said he sexually abused three girls at a day care about two years ago.
State Police made the announcement Wednesday but did not identify the boy because of his age. Officials said the arrest followed an investigation into a report received last November alleging the sexual abuse of a 12-year-old girl who was 10 at the time of the incident.
The victim, who now lives out of the area, told authorities her abuser was another child at the home-based day care she was attending in Northampton.
Troopers said the young suspect was only 8-years-old at the time. But State Police said that cases of children abusing other children isn't rare anymore.
"We get cases like this every so often with a young kid being a predator," said Trooper Maureen Tuffey, a State Police spokeswoman.
