Monday morning: Wow, there's a lot going on . . .
1. Last Wednesday, I got laid off from the Unemployment Office.
Yep, that's what I said, and that night, the president said the most important issue facing America is jobs.
So, in the Age of the Internet, what do you do if you get laid off?
Your start a blog! Please check out Working Press and if you like it, pass it on.
All the information is there.
For those who don't have time right now: Don't worry. They did right by me. It's all good. This will definitely be a turn for the better for me!
2. Birka was perhaps even more overwhelming than usual. It was great to see folks, and there was some great things in court, including Silver Crescents to a number of folks I care deeply about, including, of course,
alethea_eastrid.
More about Birka later.
3. Thanks to
dsrtao for the reminder that Season Three of Shadow Unit starts in two weeks.
4. If you have any interest in the Amazon-MacMillan e-books debacle (which I refuse to call "Amzon-Fail"), John Scalzi's pretty direct about it.
5. Just cannot seem to get started today. I know what the to-do list is. I just need to pick Item No. 1
6. Snarks I didn't make.
A. Sometimes, I am not even sure what pushes my buttons, but this post on the SCA-LJ did. Not your list, dude.
Vote honestly, you can't say something positive, don't bother to comment.
But . . .
I am trying to be brighter and cheerier and less negative, so I did not make the following post to
sca_snark. I will keep it among friends.
Dear Society-wide list;
Tell me how cool my drawing is.
But don't say anything bad about it.
Thank you,
The Artist
PS: One of my dear friends snarked it for me.
B. On a separate topic:
If someone takes the time to take pictures and post them within 24 hours of the event, it's just downright rude to suggest that they should have tagged the photos with people's names.
You want that sort of thing? Get a camera and go to events.
People do not go to events to take pictures for your benefit.
C. One word. "Pre-reg-o-crat"
7. The New York Times has an excellent summary on President Obama and "Don't Ask. Don't Tell."
