Monday morning: Winter War recap
Mar. 1st, 2010 09:33 am1. Bet you didn't know I was a royal herald of Ealdormere.
Winter War, which was fabulous, featured a small prince/princess court to give a Maunche to Frigga of Glen Linn. She had been sick for Birka, and the award went out, but she had not gotten the scroll and the medallion.
alethea_eastrid was the herald for our prince and princess, but as we lined up, the princess and Alethea looked over at me and said, "Can you herald the Ealdormere royals in?"
"Sure, once I get their names." ;)
That was pretty cool.
Thank goodness they have simple names.
3. Earlier in the day, I was introduced to the queen of Ealdormere by the princess (with whom I *really* hit it off).
Princess: "Your Majesty. This is Master Liam of the East. He wanted to meet you."
Queen: "Liam, I know *you*"
She proceeded to show me her braids and ask me to visualize the baronial coronet of Septentria on her head.
Turns out that HRM Adrielle is, like me, a huge fan of the Calontiri and we have sung together on occasion. ;)
4. Winter War was amazing! Huge college fieldhouse. Someone said it was th biggest one yet and that there were 75 fighters. It might have been more. So much fighting, and there were some fencers there as well. The food, well . . . yes, there was enough. ;) Moira, Teagan and their staff could have fed the whole Northern Army. And they had coffee!!! All day.
5. I am so impressed with our prince and princess. This seems to come naturally to them. It's gonna be a good reign.
6. The ride up was three hours of the glory of the Adirondacks. It was fabulous. The ride home include waiting 90 minutes at the base of a hill, because the snow had turned it into a luge run. We had to wait for a flatbed to pull us out.
7. So here are Their Highnesses Ealdormere: Quliiam and Dagmar.
He's 19 years old and just a great, big happy puppy. She's one of those wicked cool people you like the minute you meet her.
