Cross-posted from 50BookChallenge

As usual, I am trying to make things more difficult.

I set out to do the Challenge, then decided to read at least 50 Sports Books, then, of course, started reading others.

So I am just going to treat this as straight-up 50 and keep track of genres (sports, non-fiction and fiction) as I go along.

One note, I am up to seven books total already. I am not a madman. (Well, most people do not think I am). I have been either in the hospital or at home with flu-induced pneumonia since Jan. 3. (Nice year, eh?)

Anyway, here's where I am. I have not posted any notes on the last three, but I will.

1. "Open" by John Feinstein.

2. "Top 100 Sports Arguments of All Time" by Christopher Russo.

3. "Temple" by Matt Reilly.

4. "Retreat Hell!" by W.E.B. Griffin.

5. "There Are No Shortcuts" by Rafe Esquith.

6. "My Prison Without Bars" by Pete Rose.

7. "The Essential 55" by Ron Clark.

Nos. 5 and 7 are books by former Disney teachers of the year.

Next up is Rick Reilly's "Who's Your Caddy?"

I will post commentary on the Rose book and the education books later.

It was noble of you to read My Prison Without Bars. Now this circle of friends has someone they can ask about it without anyone else having to feel like Laura Dern in Jurassic Park up to the shoulder in Triceratops droppings.

You know what's funny.

When I get a book like that, I always want to loan it out.

I cannot honestly think on anyone in Carolingia who would want it.

I am gonna see if our football/baseball coach wants it.

The short answer is: I had some sympathy for him before I read the book.

I have none now.

You might check Vis. He likes baseball stuff. [I'd read it if my reading list wasn't already loaded with too many high priority items].
