1. No new readers today, but I have gained 11 new readers since Jan. 1.
2. This the "Teh Dumb."
The Girl Scouts of Connecticut want to find out which of its selection of eight cookies makes the grade as the state’s favorite.
The Girl Scouts have a Web site, www.cookievote.com, where residents can vote for their favorite cookie.
The site also includes a celebrity page, where some of the state’s leaders talk about their favorite cookies.
The winning cookie will be announced April 17.
Thin Mints. Always has been. Always will be. How many boxes are there in your freezer/
3. OK. Need help. Do you wear a fresh pair of socks every day? If not, how often do you change pairs?
4. Is there any difference in washing clothes inside-out or outside-out?
5. Everyone, all together now, tell me:
Hoc est consilium farcimen.
(This is a weinie plan)
What is a weinie plan, you ask? The Massachusetts Special Olympics Passion Plunge is Saturday, Feb. 16, and one of the sites is Revere Beach. That's maybe 15 minutes or so from Boskone, where I will be at.
I am sensing this would not be a good idea. ;)
6. Speaking of Latin, a confession from Master Andrixos of Calontir: abdout the phrases: "We are a flock of sheep. Sheep with teeth."
Sumus grex agni. Agni dentati.
Now truth be told, I have been lying to the army for more than a decade about this one.
As almost always happens, the line for a Latin lesson is brought to me after fighting the most desparate of bridge battles, when this old scutum fighter is worn out, dehydrated and mentally drained. So someone comes up and suggests a line for the lesson. I blurt it out, and only later that night, or most often the next week do I have a chance to check my big book of words for the proper vocabulary forms. But I have already taught the line to the army, and I do not feel like trying to get them to unlearn it.
So here is my confession.
Sheep is oves.
Lambs is agni.
I will continue to use agni, because it rhymes.
