East Kingdom 12th Night is postponed

The school at which tomorrow's East Kingdom 12th Night event was to be held has informed the site coordinator the school will be closed down because of a forecast of a serious snow storm.

EK 12th Night will be held next Saturday, Jan. 17. There were no other viable options, and Their Majesties apologize in advance to al-Hafla and the Kingdom of Acre.

I would ask you not contact the event steward with any issues until next week. Things are very hectic right now.

We will have a week to make sure everything comes off as well as it can.

If you have any questions/comments/concerns, please contact me at liamstliam@gmail.com

I do not have posting access to the household list or the Ladies In Waiting list. Could someone pass it on, please?

Thank you,

Master Liam St. Liam
Major Domo to Their Majesties East

So now Darius is saying maybe not moved? Plans on hold?

[identity profile] oaken-glen.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm confused. Darius just sent an email out saying that any talk regarding the moving of the event was on hold.

Probably issues with it being an "official" event if it gets moved to a different date and not announced in the Pikestaff. Once the Royals, Seneschal and Autocrat all get to talk together we should hear something more.

Can you call Her Majesty?

She needs advice.

[identity profile] liamstliam.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
That's exactly what it is, Mike.

But I know what the answer is, too.

He will just need to go through channels to do it.

Good. Thanks.

It's the year for messed up Twelfth Nights it seems....

Though conditions are improving, the Northern (and more populous) portions of An Tir are currently more-or-less cut off from Twelfth Night by flooding.

It's all set and rescheduled.

Eaxactly what Mike thought.

A similar situation happened once in the Mid- an event where they were planning on doing some major changes to kingdom law didn't get in the Pale, so they did a simulcast court with Their Highnesses at another event that DID make it into the Pale.

I think that the easiest solution is that awards given out at 12th Night would need to be read into court at another event.

Sorry to hear that the snow is causing issues for your event. I know how you feel. I got six inches of snow for the Jingle Hell event which means I only got 100 head count that night. Then it snowed again on NYE, but that only made the head count higher! I guess people decided First Night in -9 temps and snow wasn't a good idea after all.

Anyway, the only event I have on the 17th is Heroes, so let me know if you need crash space on the 16th! I might be able to lend a hand that weekend.

It gives me another week to build my excitement about seeing you.

;)

The event's in New York.

I was looking for crash space for people coming *from* Boston. ;)

But thank you!

OK, for those of us who are just watching (and wishing things were better for our friends in the EK) I am a bit confused. I grew up near Washingtonville and the fact that the event is being clobbered by a threat of snow is strange to me. When things calm down, I'd like to hear more.

New York is sufficiently far away from Boston that that shouldn't provide too many conflicts with Arisia.

Oki doki

Thanks to the speedy posting and updates. :-)

The school pulled their permission to use the site, apparently citing insurance issues.

Except for the overlap in attendees, which is bigger than you might think.

I never used to travel that far for events when I was in the SCA, and I don't recall a lot of people doing so either, but that was over 10 years ago, so things may have changed.

This is a major kingdom event with four peerages.

A lot of folks were going to come.

Seriously, I would say two dozen at least, including Arisia department heads.
