The school at which tomorrow's East Kingdom 12th Night event was to be held has informed the site coordinator the school will be closed down because of a forecast of a serious snow storm.

EK 12th Night will be held next Saturday, Jan. 17. There were no other viable options, and Their Majesties apologize in advance to al-Hafla and the Kingdom of Acre.

I would ask you not contact the event steward with any issues until next week. Things are very hectic right now.

We will have a week to make sure everything comes off as well as it can.

If you have any questions/comments/concerns, please contact me at liamstliam@gmail.com

I do not have posting access to the household list or the Ladies In Waiting list. Could someone pass it on, please?

Thank you,

Master Liam St. Liam
Major Domo to Their Majesties East

Can you call Her Majesty?

She needs advice.

I'm confused. Darius just sent an email out saying that any talk regarding the moving of the event was on hold.

Probably issues with it being an "official" event if it gets moved to a different date and not announced in the Pikestaff. Once the Royals, Seneschal and Autocrat all get to talk together we should hear something more.

That's exactly what it is, Mike.

But I know what the answer is, too.

He will just need to go through channels to do it.

It's the year for messed up Twelfth Nights it seems....

Though conditions are improving, the Northern (and more populous) portions of An Tir are currently more-or-less cut off from Twelfth Night by flooding.

Sorry to hear that the snow is causing issues for your event. I know how you feel. I got six inches of snow for the Jingle Hell event which means I only got 100 head count that night. Then it snowed again on NYE, but that only made the head count higher! I guess people decided First Night in -9 temps and snow wasn't a good idea after all.

Anyway, the only event I have on the 17th is Heroes, so let me know if you need crash space on the 16th! I might be able to lend a hand that weekend.

The event's in New York.

I was looking for crash space for people coming *from* Boston. ;)

But thank you!

OK, for those of us who are just watching (and wishing things were better for our friends in the EK) I am a bit confused. I grew up near Washingtonville and the fact that the event is being clobbered by a threat of snow is strange to me. When things calm down, I'd like to hear more.

The school pulled their permission to use the site, apparently citing insurance issues.

New York is sufficiently far away from Boston that that shouldn't provide too many conflicts with Arisia.

Except for the overlap in attendees, which is bigger than you might think.

Wow. When I was seneschal of the Barony of Caerthe (Denver) or running the 12th Night there, that was my biggest fear. Denver gets a lot of snow this time of year. Generally, we lucked out. There might have been lots of snow on the ground, but the roads and airports were open. The big fear was that whilst locals would get to the event (barring an blizzard actively dropping three feet of snow that day, locals would get there :), but with the airport and passes closed, nobody else would. (You can ask Alexandre about this fear. He cooked the feast at the last 12th Night I ran there. :) There were some years I was very, very nervous about it all.

The poor event steward. And I'm thinking of the folks who booked non-refundable airfares, hotel rooms etc. Oh boy. What a mess!

Coloradans are generally less fearful of nutsy weather. 8)

I'd dread unloading in the Chinooks, still.
