1. For all the whinging this week, today's Youth Summit was fabulous. I gave a good presentation. [livejournal.com profile] sideshownate did a great job as a volunteer, I made a lot of connections and I fell in love with a dreadlocked teacher from an alternatice school. (Unrequited, I am afraid).

2. I did feel validated at the Web 2.0 workshop for teachers. The presenter talked about wikis, avatars, blogs, podcasts, RSS feeds and the like and *I knew what she was talking about!* I use those things. This is unusual for me because a lot of the Carolingians and others I know -- like, say, [livejournal.com profile] jdecoeur, -- are probably working on Web 3.0 and speaking in compyer languages I have never heard of.

3. Spitzer resignation detail No. 1: Hillary Clinton loses a a superdelegate with his resignation. I do not know if the new governor will be a superdelegate.

4. Spitzer resignation detail No. 2: When David Paterson takes the oath of office on Monday, he will be the first Black governor in New York history and the first blind governor in U.S. History. (This is why it is so important who John McCain chooses as a running mate. Even McCain admits that).

5. I am listening to classics -- "The Essential Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show," which was preceded by "The Essential Charlie Daniels Band."

6. Anyone get the new Flogging Molly album yet?

7.  While it is not on the Internet, the new weekly newspaper in Glens Falls did a pretty spiffy story on Northern Lights with a small photo on the front of a couple of guys playing a period game, a nice picture of Tiberius (Yes, I have one for you), a picture of Frigga and someone else whose SCA name I do not know.

As these things go, it was pretty well done.

If you live in Queensbury/Glens Falls, you should grab a few copies. I assume it’s in the Queensbury weekly as well. I know there are some at the Crandall Library.

1. It never ceases to amaze my wife that I can find so many connections with people.

No shit, there I was, at lunch today at the conference.

Talking to the principal of Argyle High School.

Him: Have we talked about your Rhode Island connection yet.

Me: I don't know, I was botn in Westerly.

Him: *I* was born in Westerly.

[At this point, I fervently wished that Allison had come to the conference. She would have snarfed pizza.]

Him: I only lived there for about a year, then we moved to South Glens Falls. (His family is from this area).

Me: Oh, OK.

Him: But my cousin Marc Berardo  . .

Me: That would be the Marc Berardo I graduated with . . .  Class of 1977.

Him: Yes . . .

2. All those CDS I ordered have come in (I think), and I also picked up some Boston. Rolling Stones, Weird Al ("Straight Outta Lynwood"), altan ("Best of", and Little Feat ("Waiting for Columbus").

3. I also ordered a couple of books, including one I had wanted for a very long time -- "The Complete Annotated Grateful Dead Lyrics."

4. Wow, if I am an editor, I do not know if I out the prostitute in the Sputzer case. I may actually agree with bashing the media on this one.
